HTC Corporation, a global designer of smartphones, has announced that it has recently appointed Nikitas Glykas as Regional Director of HTC South Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Glykas will be responsible for the overall marketing and sales business of HTC in South Eastern Europe and the Middle East, which jointly cover a total of 33 markets.
Prior to joining HTC, Glykas was CEO of Shelman SA where he was responsible for the overall business of SHELMAN and four affiliated companies in Greece. He also previously worked at M J Maillis Group S.A. for more than six years and at Mobil Hellas AE as Balkans Marketing Coordinator, which has helped enhance his expertise and knowledge of key regional markets.

Sahara Petrochemicals Company partners with HP to transform its datacenter operations
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, March 8, 2010: HP today announced that Sahara Petrochemicals Company (Sahara), a Saudi based industrial development company specializing in petrochemical, chemicals and related products, has selected HP BladeSystem and HP ProLiant servers solutions to automate and optimise its datacentre processes.
The new implementation is part of Sahara’s technology overhaul to support and meet its growth objectives.
The HP BladeSystem c7000 enclosure deployed at Sahara will allow it to consolidate its server, storage, network, power and management capabilities into a ‘datacenter in a box’.

GETEX Dubai 2010, the Middle East and Asia’s leading education, training and professional development event, has revealed that issues concerning Emiratisation will be one of the biggest challenges of HR professionals at the start of the new decade as the UAE Government intensifies its efforts to integrate the increasing number of local graduates into the UAE workforce, particularly in the private sector. Up to 80 per cent of UAE nationals work in the public sector primarily because of more attractive salaries, more conducive working hours and job security, while GETEX Dubai also noted that unemployment among Emiratis currently stands at around 12 per cent according to figures from the International Council on Security and Development.

GE Volunteers participate in RAK Half Marathon to raise funds for charity
* Raise over AED 33,000 for Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs
Dubai, UAE; February 27, 2010: General Electric (GE) employees in the United Arab Emirates took part in the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Half Marathon, described as the ‘highest accredited road race in the Middle East’ to raise funds for a local charity.
Nineteen GE Volunteers took part in the grueling marathon run covering a distance of 21.095 km and raised over AED 33,000 to be donated to Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs.

ETIHAD HOSTS JAPANESE CULTURAL WEEK IN DUBAI
Etihad Airways has been treating residents of the UAE to some unique Japanese festivities as the airline prepares to launch flights to Tokyo, its second new route to the country.
The airline’s Japanese Cultural Week event is being held at the Heritage Village, Jumeirah Beach Residence – The Walk, in Dubai until Sunday 28 February. Festivities start at 5 pm each day.
Entry is free and the event features a wide range of attractions including live Japanese Taiko drummers, an authentic calligrapher, pop culture nail artist and complimentary Japanese sushi samples, desserts, Japanese Oolong tea and green tea refreshments.
